The RPS Digital Imaging group NW Region inaugural event in Warrington.
A few weeks ago I was one of 2 speakers invited to speak at The RPS Digital Imaging group NW Region inaugural event in Warrington.
The 'NW' Centre for the 'Digital Imaging Group' will be holding four events a year. These will be lectures dedicated to the advancement of amateur photography in the North West Region. Events will be open to everybody and it was an honour to be invited to lecture at the launch event.
I gave a lecture on understanding and using flash in photography. This consisted of why, when and where to use flash, and also a breakdown of various flash concepts and an introduction to the different types of flash equipment available and associated modifiers.
My companion speaker was Adrian Lines MPAGB ARPS FBPE who gave a superb presentation on how to add impact to images using Photoshop. Adrian was also responsible in organising this event.
After the lectures we judges a print competition that had been brought along by the audience. There was some super work, but only one winner. Kean Brown won the competition with a print of his friend Terry (not me!) and was presented with his trophy and prizes by The Chair of The RPS Digital Imaging Group Jay Haines.
All in all a super day, and a very successful launch of inaugral event of The RPS Digital Imaging Group NW. If you have an interest in coming along to the next event, or want further information about RPS Digital Imaging Group NW, please check out the contact details at the end of the blog post.
Adrian considering the final prints competing for the overall winner.
Malcolm Blackburn, one of the organisers of the event, did fantastic job of running the event and keeping everyone not eh straight and narrow, including Jay ;)
