Jersey

I was invited over to Jersey to present an evening to Jersey Photographic Club last week, so I took the opportunity to run a workshop the following day.

Jersey Photographic Club is a really strong club, with some of the best workers on the island being members. Many of the members I have met before and have known a few of them for many years and admire a lot of the work they produce.

The presentation itself was projected, and I had also taken a selection of prints along as well to show the members. The welcome and hospitality afforded by Jersey Photographic Club was excellent, people really went out of their way to make the evening a success.

The following day I ran my Shooting for Composites workshop with 10 photographers, a really enjoyable day, of hard work, theory, practice and concepts. Im already seeing good work being posted by people that attended, and its great to see the techniques they learnt on the day,  and ideas being put into practice on their own work. Another really good group of photographers working hard to step out of their comfort zone and learn new skills.

We had the pleasure of working with Jennifer Ashley our model for the day who did a fabulous job with modelling and really got involved with the group. A link to Jennifer's Facebook page is at the foot of this post.

One of the greatest things about photography is meeting new friends and spending time with existing ones through the love of photography. we'll be running more workshops in Jersey later on this year.

A special mention to my good friend Ian Le Seuer who very kindly provided his studio lamps and background for me to use on the workshop, and helped out a lot in organising the day. Ian runs Kandidprints Photography on Jersey, and is a full time professional photographer covering events, weddings, portraits corporate and commercial photography.

If you live in Jersey and want to become involved with local photographers check out Jersey Photographic Club at http://www.jerseyphotoclub.co.uk for details of their meetings.

We'll be posting more workshop dates on the training page of the website soon, link below.
